Number 1 Seed Stops Grozdanov in Austria


Tihomir Grozdanov was stopped by the number one seed in the Austrian 15,000$ futures in Telfs. Grozdanov didn`t have any luck in the draw and in the first round he had to meet the world number 337 countrymen Johannes Ager, who is in a very good form. Grozdanov gave his best but his opponent was too good and Toto fell after 3-6 2-6.

Grozdanov tries to continue his good streak as in the last 2 months he has won his second career title in Plovdiv on the Puldin Cup 10,000$ and the semifinal show in the Serbian town of Belgrade. Grozdanov is in the entry list of all Austrian futures so he is expected to play next in Kramsach again 15,000$.

Victoriya Tomova Reaches Second Round in Germany


Victoria Tomova reached the second round of Airberling Juniors tournament in Berlin, Germany with category of 1.

Viki defeated in the first round 158th Russian Ekaterina Semenova categorically 6-0 6-2 without giving her opponent a chance.

Viki made a return after the devastating loss in Italy 0-6 3-6 and she might have not been in her top form after this match but she showed her great mental stranght and totally destroyed her opponent today.

In the tournament there were two more participants the Dishkova sisters. Hristina Dishkova reached the second qualifying round but lost in it to Jade Sufrin from France. Angela played a nice match against Stephanie Worigh but lost.

In the boys main draw, Dimitar Kutrovsky will play he 16th seed Spaniard Andres Artunego Martinavar who has 32 victories of 37 matches this season and won three titles.

2 Bulgarians Qualified For the Main Draw, Doubles Event Kick Off


Two Bulgarians have entered the main draw through qualifyings although only one won the final round.

Lyutfia Velieva(on the picture) stunned in a thrilling match conpatriot and number one seed Dessislava Mladenova. The Bulgarian who was the underdog in this derby showed great tennis and succeeded in her quest to the main draw defeating Mladenova 6-7(2) 7-6(4) 6-2. The other one to enter the qualifying was actually Desi as a lucky loser.

The other three Bulgarians lost. Nikol Hristova was very close to beating her opponent Ingrid-Alexandra Radu but she was overpowered and overrallied by her in a thrilling match which ended 7-6(5) 6-7(5) 4-6. Anastasia Stepu lost in a suprising match against Austrian Elizabeta Bauer 5-7 1-6. The same girl beat suprisingly in the second round Nadejda Vassileva 6-2 6-1. The third Bulgarian who won her first two matches in her womens career - Ani Vangelova - lost to number five seed Dunja Sunkic after 4-6 0-6. Ani had her chances in the first set but when she lost them she fell mentally and couldn`t do anything more.

The doubles event has also started with two Bulgarian duos reaching the quaterfinals. Number 1 seed Hyulia and Lyutfia Velievas defeated the other all-bulgarian dua of Shinikova and Vassileva in a very dramatic match 6-1 6-7(7) 10-8. The other all-bulgarian duo of Mladenova and Germanlieva defeated number 4 seed Akiki/Zafirova in two sets 7-5 6-2.

Five Bulgarians Into Final Qualifying Match in Prokuplje


Five Bulgarians have won their second qualifying round matches today on the tennis courts in Prokuplje. Dessislava Mladenova, Anastasia Stepu, Lyutfia Veliva, Ani Vangelova and Nikol Hristova have reached the last qualifying round in the tournament. And so "The Bulgarian National Championships" in the qualifyings in the Serbian town continue.

First seed Dessislava Mladenova didn`t have much problems against Italian Indra Bigi as she beated her in straight sets 6-3 6-2.

Second seed Anastasia Stepu (on the picture), who has recently entered the top 1000 after she reached the quaterfinals in Iasi, Romania enroute beating number 1 seed Lisa Sabino, won her second round against Slovakian Lucia Kovalova 6-2 6-4.

Lyutfia Velieva has ended a losing streak in the last few months as she won a match without losing a game and now she continued her nice impressions defeating local Jovana Karac 6-1 6-0, setting up an all-Bulgarian derby against Dessislava Mladenova ensuring atleast one Bulgarian qualifier.

Ani Vangelova who has never won a single match before this tournament has reached the final qualifying match by defeating Danijela Tomic from Serbia 6-1 6-1.

Nikol Hristova had had a a lot harder match than expected as she struggled a lot. But in the end she overlasted Israelian Margarita-Greta Skripnik 6-3 4-6 7-5.

Four Bulgarians have lost their matches. Hyulia Velieva lost to Matea Cutura 0-6 6-7(5), Nadezhda Vassileva lost to Elizabeta Bauer with a suprising score 2-6 1-6, Isabella Shinikova lost in a thrilling and dramatic match to Australian Deeon Mladin 3-6 6-2 3-6 and Elena Jetcheva lost to number 4 seed Simonka Parajova 3-6 1-6.

Kostova Loses Final


Elitsa Kostova lost the final in Mont-De-Marsan. She fell to Czech inform player Petra Cetkovska 2-6 2-6 and lost her first final in 25,000$ tournament.

Elitsa showed some good tennis throughout the tournament as she beated number 2 seed and 3 seed but in the final round she couldn`t manage the inform tennis of the Czech who won second consecutive 25,000$ tournament in France after she won in Perigueux last week.

From the beginning of the match Cetkovska was controlling the rallies and didn`t give a chance to Elitsa to play her game as she broke her opponent`s serve 4 times and finished her in a little more than an hour.

Kostova, who reached her first final in a 25,000$ tournament, has won 34 points from Mont-De-Marsan but she will earn only 20 as she has reached the quaterfinals here where she again fell in 2 sets to Nika Ozgerovic. Eli will now have a week`s rest and then she will play in the tournament of Contrexeville with prize money 50,000$ where she will begin from the qualifyings. There she has to defend points from the second round of the main draw.

Neykov Reaches Final Qualifying Match


Andreas Neykov, 18, has reached the final qualifying match in the Romanian town Cluj Napoca. Neykov who has recently received his first ATP ranking devastated in the first round American wild card player Daniel Elliot Rayant 6-0 6-0. Today he continued his good streak defeating local player Vlad Victor Cornea 6-2 6-4 to reach the final qualifying match. There he will meet 7th seed in the qualifyings Marin Franjicevic from Croatia who has a ranking of 1005.

Neykov who has a ranking of 1622 has won his first ATP point in the Antalya tournament in Turkey. There he started from the qualies again in the first round beated local wild card Serkan Kurt 6-2 6-4 before falling to future finalist Alexandre Folie from Belgium 2-6 3-6.

Matches with Bulgarians on the 4th of July


Today the most important match is probably the final in Mont-De-Marsan, France with prize money of 25,000$. In it Elitsa Kostova (On the picture), 20, who has a ranking of 354, will try to win her first title of this rank of tournaments against Petra Cetkovska, with ranking of 245, from the Czech Republic. Eli until now has won two 10,000$ tournaments in Alcobaca (2008) and Le Havre (2009) and has lost three finals in Antalya and Vinaros (2008) and Albufeira (2010). Until now Eli has reached only one quaterfinal in a 25,000$ and it was again here in Mont-De-Marsan last year.

In the qualifyings in the 10,000$ tournament in Prokuplje, Serbia 9 Bulgarian girls will play for a place in the last qualifying round of the tournament. There are 3 Bulgarians directly in the main draw Dalia Zafirova, Tanya Germanlieva and Biljana Pawlowa-Dimitrova.

In other qualifyings in the Romanian town of Cluj Napoca, Andreas Neykov will play his second qualifying match where he is seeded 16.
